Shearling Clog Boots: The Perfect Footwear to Beat the Cold

Historically, clogs always were the best choice of footwear for cold weather, because of the insulating properties of wood, but using simply wood isn’t enough. If you have wooden furniture or something similar made of wood, you know how cold wood surface is when you touch is in cold weather, especially when it is exposed to cold. Shoes are mostly worn outside, mainly clog boots, and hence they need to be better insulated for winter wear. This is where shearling clog boots come in: the boots to beat the cold with.
Shearling clog boots are full sized boots that are made of wooden base and shearling stitched uppers to insulate feet against cold. Now many may ask the question: why shearling boots, and not other woolen or similar boots for protection against cold?
To understand that question, we have to take a trip to the past, particularly to the Victorian Era. Sheepskins and wool were used for making protective clothing for protection against extreme cold. But shearling had a unique standing in the fashion industry back then: it was more luxurious. Not just that, it was better at insulating the body than other forms of wool. Shearling is a special kind of sheep hide than uses both the hide and wool attached to it, making shearling a unique combination of both wool and leather. This means protection of wool and the goodness of leather made it a highly desirable material back then.
During world wars, shearling lined bomber jackets were standard issue for pilots, because it was the best solution the air force came up with to protect pilots from extreme cold at high altitudes (back then pilots used open top planes, hence were exposed to high winds unlike modern pilots).
Slowly, they started gripping the fashion industry by storm, when many high-profile movie stars started wearing shearling jackets and clothing. The prices of shearling jackets rose, and so did their applications. Shearling clothing such as gloves, shawls and caps came into existence, and finally, came in shearling lined clog boots from traditional clog manufacturers who wanted to add a dash of style and luxury to their offerings.
There are many shearling boots, but they find their best pairing with clogs, because wood acts as a phenomenal insulator when joined with shearling, keeping feet warm even in the coldest of nights and days. Wood keeps body heat from leaving as it is a poor conductor of heat, and the shearling uppers help feet generate extra heat to keep the surroundings comfortable and cozy. It brings the feeling of wearing comfortable slippers in the rough outside terrain.
Shearling booths come in many types, from ankle boots to high boots. This gives ladies a chance to pick the ones they like, which are further complimented by many available colors such as black, brown, cream, red, blue etc. When choosing a pair of shoes to wear outdoors in the winter, few can match up to a pair of shearling clog boots made to perfection.
